The International Women Club of Brunei Darussalam celebrated Hari Raya Aidil FItri with style on Sunday 23rd July 2017 at the Sejahtera room of the Royal Brunei Recreation Club. With a theme Batik Raya, close to 70 ladies attended the afternoon Hi Tea dressed up in their favourite batik attire.
The event started with the recitation of the Surah Al Fatihah to seek blessings from Allah SWT for the event followed by a welcome address by the President of the Club Ungku Datin Hajjah Fanzah Hj Osman. Ungku Datin introduced her committee members and wished all the members a blessed and a festive Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. She expressed her joy in seeing so many of the members of the club including the honorary members from the Diplomatic Corps who came donned in beautiful batik to make the event successful. Hari Raya Aidil Fitri is a time of joy and celebration and the event was held to foster and strengthen friendship amongst the Club’s members which included members from both the local and expatriate community.
The members were entertained with celebratory and hari raya songs and enjoyed a sumptuous hi tea buffet of local delicacies. The members took the opportunity to mingle with each other and share the spirit of hari raya with the non local members.
The International Women Club of Brunei Darussalam is a non-profit charitable and social organization set up in 1988. The club’s membership comprises of women from the local and international communities in Negara Brunei Darussalam and is managed by volunteers. The objectives of the International Women Club of Brunei Darussalam are to promote the development of social, charitable and cultural activities and foster friendship among its members from both the local and expatriate community.
